Once he is able to upgrade the amount of memory installed or get into a newer model that offer more ram then he would easily be able to decide to go with the 64bit OS again. And by the way those out of memory errors were seen on the 32bit not 64bit Windows at the time and why I should have 3gb or a pair of 2gb dimms back then to see the 3.120gb to just under 3.6gb available ram.Īnd the other thing to mention here without intending to be rude is that the OP's question is how to make it happen as far as seeing the 32bit not 64bit run on his machine not yours or mine! That is what I have to look at here is what the OP is asking about. So after going through that enough times and when planning the present build out at first it was 8gb that had to see the dimms replaced since they sat up too high not allowing the large cpu cooler to fit down on properly forcing me to use another fast grab cooler temporarily until getting into the next brand and then after buying additional dimms of the same for the 16gb total now seen since I only run the 64bit except for either a VM project or a look at a new Linux flavor.
When going to use the resource monitor here on the second case where very little has even been installed to have more or less a basic Windows installation with 4gb of memory the idle the 64bit Windows processes takes up 1.5gb of ram right off the top! With only 2gb installed there isn't hardly any play room left over for adding any number of new startups to the list without running into any "Out of Memory" type errors! I ran into that on too many occasions in years past with 2gb being the memory installed for XP and Vista as well as the 7 beta and RC builds when running numerous apps and "GOT YA!" the dreaded "Out of Memory" crept up on you!
